One of the greatest things about football is that it is accessible to everyone. All you need is a ball and some space in which to kick it around.
However, for families who have children with additional needs, it’s often not as straightforward as turning up at their local club on registration day, signing up and getting a game.
In 2008, Kings Langley SFC established Open Goals. Originally developed and launched by life member and past-President Lisa Thorn, Open Goals is an inclusive football program that is part of Football NSW’s Football4All inclusive all abilities program.
Open Goals runs each Saturday during the season (typically late March to early August), with activities running from 10:30am to 12 noon at our home ground Lynwood Park. Junior games focus on fun and working with the kids to develop their skills and encourage working together. The sessions are focused on participation, and any involvement is welcome and supported. Senior games are more competitive as players are split into two teams and play football on a modified size field. The game is overseen by our Open Goals Seniors coaches, who encourage everyone to get involved and ensure that the spirit of the game and Open Goals is maintained by all players.
The club is proud to be able to provide players and parents the opportunity to be a part of one of the simplest yet most powerful parts of life - watching and taking part in organised sport.
Kings Langley SFC Open Goals regularly takes part in the annual Football NSW Football4All Gala Day where participants in Football4All programs across NSW come together in a non-competitive carnival full of games of football as well as other fun activities away from their usual football fields.
Open Goals is open to players from 5 years of age and up.
