2022 was one of our most successful Finals Series for a number of years. Of our seven competition teams, three qualified for finals, with two of those teams also finishing the season as Minor Premiers. Qualifying for the finals is an incredible job, and our teams should be proud of what they have achieved this season.

Under 12 Division 3

Our Under 12/3 team consisted predominantly of 11 year olds with a handful of 12 year olds and one player from U10s who regularly upgraded to help the team out.

For a team of so many young players, it's an amazing achievement that they finished the regular season as Minor Premiers, demonstrating that they were the best and most consistent team across 18 rounds. The team were not quite able to pull it off in the first semi-final against Blacktown Workers FC. However, finishing in the top two gave them a second chance in the elimination final. After a thrilling end-to-end game against Plumpton Oakhurst SC, scores were even at 3-3 at the end of both regulation and golden goal extra time. Teams were so evenly matched that the penalty shoot out also went to the sudden death stage. Unfortunately the final result did not go their way, and U12s did not qualify for the Grand Final.

Huge congratulations to the team, who in their first season of competition football have experienced almost all of the highs and lows that the game brings. An amazing achievement from all of the players and coaches.

U16 Division 3 White

After being re-graded partway through the season, U16/3 White finished the season with a rich vein of form, locking in fourth place and finals qualification two rounds before the end of the regular season.

The team put in a very strong performance in the first knock-out semi-final, easily accounting for their Quakers Hill Tigers SC and in turn moving onto the elimination final. Rain once again reared its ugly head, and the final scheduled for a Saturday afternoon was moved to the following Tuesday night after the ground was closed. This gave the team the opportunity to play on the BDSFA main synthetic field under lights. A tense and very close game followed, and unfortunately the team went down fighting 1-0 against Ropes Crossing Strikers FC.

Given their difficult start to the season, it took an incredible effort from the team to band together and get the results needed to just qualify for the finals, yet alone get through to the second last step. Congratulations to players and coach for the season.

O35 Division 6

Champions in every sense of the word!

Our O35 team turned up each week ready to play for the love of the game, and that relaxed attitude each week bore fruit with a near perfect season. They finished 2022 as Minor Premiers, undefeated with 15 wins and 3 draw across the 18 rounds, having locked in first place with 4 rounds still to play.

The team took that form into the first semi-final, and kept the game well out of reach of Doonside Hawks SC. This win put them straight into the Grand Final where they ended up facing Doonside again. The first half was an arm-wrestle that closed at 0-0. In the second half, they started to pile on the pressure and Kings came out on top 3-0!

Update 25 May 2022: Council has closed grounds until at least 4pm Friday. Keep an eye out for more information Friday lunchtime.

Due to the current condition of our playing fields at Lynwood Park, the grounds are currently closed. The fields have not coped well with two full days of football over the weekend, particularly with the rain we have experienced already, and forecast to experience over the next few days.

Coaches and managers will be updated on Thursday as to the condition and status of the grounds, and they will advise their teams.

The Committee acknowledges everyone's disappointment, and appreciates your understanding during this difficult (and very damp!) time.
